Honeywell unveiled UniSim Design R390.1, a release of Honeywell’s steady state and dynamic process simulation offering. UniSim Design Suite is part of Honeywell’s family of simulation software and engineering solutions for process simulation, design, analysis, performance monitoring, optimization and business planning for the oil and gas production, gas processing, petroleum, refining and chemical industries.

This release highlights the introduction of the new UniSim Flare product, the outcome of Honeywell’s latest effort in compatibility enhancements through XML format, a collection of targeted feature enhancements and defect fixing.

UniSim Flare is the latest addition to Honeywell’s UniSim Design product family. It is a steady-state flare & relief network simulator, to be used to design new flare and vent systems, from relief valve to flare tip, or to rate existing systems to ensure that they can handle all possible emergency scenarios. UniSim Flare can also be used to debottleneck an existing flare system that no longer meets the needs for safe operation in a plant. Its major features include:

- Ability to model convergent, divergent, and complex looped flare or vent systems for design, rating, or debottlenecking
- Easy data import directly from UniSim Design case files for analyzing various relief scenarios
- Ability to support calculations for single or multi-phase flow (including rigorous three-phase flash), and simple MW (molecular weight) or full compositional analysis
- Multiple flow/pressure drop methods, including Isothermal Gas, Adiabatic Gas, Beggs & Brill, Dukler and Orkisewski
- User-friendly graphical user interface and reporting methods.
